How to transcribe a WhatsApp voice note
Long voice notes are hard to skim. You can turn one into text in a minute: export it from WhatsApp, open it in the transcriber, and read it instead.
On Android: share it straight in
Install Quietscribe from Chrome once (the Install the app button, or the menu then Add to Home screen). In WhatsApp, long-press the voice note, tap Share, and choose Quietscribe. It opens ready to transcribe.
On iPhone: save it to Files
In WhatsApp, long-press the voice note, choose Forward, then the share icon, and Save to Files. Open WhatsApp audio to text, tap Choose a file and pick it from Files.
Pick the language and mode
Set the spoken language. On a phone, switch on Cloud mode for the best accuracy, especially for languages such as Urdu, Hindi or Arabic.
Read, copy or save
Fix any words that came out wrong, then tap Copy text to paste it into a reply or a note, or download it as a text file.
Is it private?
With Cloud mode off, the voice note never leaves your phone. With Cloud mode on, only the sound is sent to be transcribed and nothing is stored.
Group voice notes
Each voice note is a separate file, so transcribe them one at a time. Long ones work the same way.
